Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Lake Catholic High School, a student must have a minimum of 25 credits (1 credit = 2 semesters). These graduation requirements include coursework mandated by the State of Ohio Department of Education and several additional courses required by Lake Catholic High School. The distribution is as follows:

25 TOTAL CREDITS

NOTE: Regardless of credits earned, a student must be enrolled in 神学, 英语 and 数学 each of his or her four years at Lake Catholic.

In order to meet the required 25 total credits for graduation, electives are to be selected. The elective units can be chosen from fine arts, performing arts, 技术, 世界通用语言, or other department courses not otherwise required.

Lake Catholic may grant academics credit for courses taken prior to 9th grade provided the course was taught by a high school certified teacher and the course of study in effect meets high school curriculum requirements. Final transcripts are required to verify course completion. 

Beyond the required credits, students must also do the following:

• Pass the IOWA or meet state minimum scores on the ACT.
• Complete fifty hours of community service.
• The successful completion of a senior project as outlined by school administration.

Academic Honors Diploma

Lake Catholic students are eligible for a diploma with honors as defined by the Ohio Department of Education if they meet all but one of the following criteria.

• Earned four credits of 数学 (Algebra 1, 几何, 代数2, and one other higher level course)
• Earned four credits of 科学 (Biology, Chemistry, and at least one additional advance science)
• Earned four credits of 社会研究
• Earned either three credits of one 世界通用语言 or two credits each of two different languages
• Earned one credit of Fine 艺术
• Maintained an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.5 (based on a 4.0 weighted scale)
• Scored a minimum of 27 on the ACT or 1280 on the SAT

艺术 Honors Diploma

Lake Catholic students are eligible for a diploma with honors as defined by the Ohio Department of Education if they meet all but one of the following criteria.

• Earned four credits of 数学 (Algebra 1, 几何, 代数2, and one other higher level course)
• Earned three credits of 科学 (Biology, Chemistry, and at least one additional advance science)
• Earned three credits of 社会研究
• Earned either three credits of one 世界通用语言 or two credits each of two different languages
• Earned four credits of Fine 艺术
• Earned two units of electives with a focus in fine arts course work
• Maintained an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.5 (based on a 4.0 weighted scale)
• Scored a minimum of 27 on the ACT or 1280 on the SAT
• Complete a field experience and document the experience in a portfolio specific to the area of focus
  Develop a comprehensive portfolio of work based on the student’s field experience

STEM Honors Diploma

Lake Catholic students are eligible for a diploma with honors as defined by the Ohio Department of Education if they meet all but one of the following criteria.

• Earned five credits of 数学 (Algebra 1, 几何, 代数2, and one other higher level course)
• Earned five credits of 科学 (including at least two units of advanced science)
• Earned three credits of 社会研究
• Earned either three credits of one 世界通用语言 or two credits each of two different languages
• Earned one credit of Fine 艺术
• Earned two units of electives with a focus in STEM
• Maintained an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.5 (based on a 4.0 weighted scale)
• Scored a minimum of 27 on the ACT or 1280 on the SAT
• Complete a field experience and document the experience in a portfolio specific to the area of focus
• Develop a comprehensive portfolio of work based on the student’s field experience
